Victoria Lamont

Victoria Lamont is Professor of American Literature at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. She is the author of Westerns: A Women’s History (Nebraska 2016) and co-author with Dianne Newell of Judith Merril: A Critical Study. Her biography of popular Western author B.M. (Bertha Muzzy) Bower is forthcoming from University of Nebraska Press. Her articles have
appeared in Legacy, Auto/Biography Studies, Western American Literature, and The Canadian
Review of American Studies. She has won the Western Literature Association Don. D. Walker
Prize for best article in Western American Literature Studies. Westerns: A Women’s History
received Honorable Mention for the SSAWW Book Award.

Victoria lives on a sheep farm in rural Ontario, located on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishnaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Mississauga peoples. In her spare time she trains sheepdogs and competes in sheepdog trials.
